Reading Science Works! The Badger State of Wisconsin has an active, innovative chapter of Decoding Dyslexia which promotes:

  • A comprehensive resolution on dyslexia passed by the Wisconsin PTA
  • Representation on the Bipartisan Dyslexia Caucus, thanks to Congressman Mike Gallagher of Congressional District 8
  • And helped secure the Official State Proclamation naming October Dyslexia Awareness month by Governor Walker

  • Resources, education, and networking for teachers, families, and concerned community partners in Wisconsin

We continue to advocate for:

  • A definition of Dyslexia in the state of Wisconsin
  • Federal statutes through our Decoding Dyslexia counterparts across the nation
  • Appropriate new teacher preparation learning about risk factors and dyslexia, literacy approaches rooted in reading science
  • Opportunities for certified educators to be kept up-to-date with the latest research on Dyslexia
  • Appropriate early screening of “at risk” students
  • Mandatory use of structured literacy approaches implemented with fidelity
  • With supports and accommodations for struggling readers in our public schools
